Dear Mr. Felton, Your website is wonderful and full of excellent information. Thank you for educating those of us who seek out information on the old and beautiful jewelry made for women in mourning. God Bless and Best regards, Sincerely, A. Deal

Thanks for your web page. Since visiting my relatives in Whitby as a child, I have been a jet fan. I recently discovered Ebay - though it is hard to assess by the pictures alone. Your examples are very helpful. I have done the scratch test on my pieces - but like them too much to risk the hot needle!
Thanks again for a great posting.

Hi there. Sorry to bother you. Do you know of any jet walks or finding trips locally? Thanks again. Amber

Hello there, I've just bought my first piece of jet. It's the most wonderful necklace. Thank you for your pages on identification. I struggled to get a result with a hot needle, but got a clear streak test (& tried bakelite to compare). My question is: could this be jet from a place other than Whitby ? The beads are carved in a leaf design similar to some on your page, and are most likely from the Victorian era. kind regards, Andie

Hi Lesley, You did well to find jet on the beach at Whitby, whenever I go all I see is people wandering around with heads down looking for jet and fossils. Have fun with the jewellery.

Hi Candace, Thanks for visiting my site and for your comments.
I would be interested to see your pendant, please send a photo.
I am afraid I can't help you out with a vendor in Canada, most jet sold on eBay is genuine but some of course is not.
It is nice to know I am not the only one 'bitten by the jet bug'

Wonderful site, I've developed a real "jet envy"! Have a small pendant & tried some of yr tests, but am not sure its real. Can I send you a photo? Can you recommend any trustworthy vendors in my area? Truly an interesting passion.
